I'm ready to swatch away!! :)

Can't wait to hear about everyone's WIP....from colors to patterns to whatever else they want to share. I've always been horrible(bad me!) about swatching. I tend to be a tight knitter, so my general rule of thumb(for myself) is to always go up one needle size, and from there, everything seems to be ok. One of these days, it's gonna bite me in the rumpus, however, so that's why I figured this would be a great thing for me to do!

Guess I better get sorting through all my patterns/books/yarn stash for ideas of where to start!

I'm Ready!!

First of all, welcome Valerie to the blog. Hopefully we will have a few others joing soon!

I'm ready to start on my afghan. Since I am swatching from scratch, I had to wait for my yarn order. This is what I chose:

It's Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Mist, Cloud, Cranberry and Fern. I've got some stitches picked out from Vogue's Stitchionary. I tried to select some elaborate stitches and some simplier stitches so when I assemble them all it doesn't look too busy. Now I just need to decide how large I want the squares to be. Luckily I have a long plane ride tomorrow to get started on this. My hubby and I are flying to Italy tomorrow! That also means I probably won't be checking in until I get back. So if you want to join, please leave a comment or e-mail and I'll get you all set up with access as soon as I return.

Until then, Happy Knitting!

Welcome to the Knit-A-Long!

Welcome to the Knit-a-Long! I am definitely the type of knitter that hates knitting blankets. I can't even knit a baby blanket without getting bored of the repetition of knitting the same thing row after row. It's always a struggle to finish. But I still want a cozy blanket, so what is a knitter like me to do?

Knit a swatch afghan of course! I hope that you will knit along with me. I am planning on knitting squares, each with a different pattern which can be sewn together into a blanket, but if you already have a ton of swatches and nothing to do with them, that would work too. This will be an ongoing Knit-a-Long, so join and finish whenever you want. If you'd like to join, e-mail me at angela at craftychickonline dot com and I'll give you access to the blog so you can post your progress too!

Happy Knitting!
